Entrepreneurial Equity Partners (“e2p”), a Chicago-based private equity firm focused on the food, beverage and pet industries, announced today that portfolio company, MBC Companies (“MBC”), has acquired Alpha Foods (“Alpha” or the “Company”), a family-owned frozen pizza manufacturer based in Waller, Texas. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Alpha is a privately held, family-owned frozen foods manufacturer based in Waller, Texas. Founded in 1984 by Greek immigrants George and Athena Sarandos, Alpha has grown from a regional foodservice distributor into a respected national producer of frozen pizzas and pizza components. Operating a purpose-built 115,000 square foot facility in Waller, Texas, Alpha serves institutional and retail customers, including K-12 schools, national grocery chains, and leading consumer packaged goods brands nationwide.
Headquartered in McDonald, Tennessee, MBC is a manufacturer and distributor of frozen breakfast and lunch products, specializing in the production of French Toast, waffles, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, pizza, and a variety of other baked goods. MBC serves diverse end markets including K-12 schools, private label retail, convenience stores, and quick-serve restaurants. MBC currently operates across three production facilities in Lebanon and Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The addition of the Alpha facility in Waller, Texas, expands the company’s manufacturing footprint to four locations, encompassing over 550,000 square feet of total production space and employs nearly 1,000 people company-wide across three states. The Alpha acquisition marks MBC’s second significant investment in the pizza category, following its January 2025 acquisition of Nardone Brothers Baking.
